Grace is what reveals itself when you’ve let the world obliterate you – not so you are a victim of it, but so you are a lover of it. This is surrender.  ~ AMODO MAA

Dear Readers, Community, Friends,

What does falling into the arms of your life look like? What stones have yet to be unturned?

Take a minute to reflect: in 2022, what worked, what didn’t, and ... what’s next?

  • Give yourself permission to let go of anything that didn’t serve you.
  • Carry the priceless lessons you learned from making mistakes into 2023 to make it a great year.
  • Where in your life is there something not yet actualized?
  • What is something you’ve always wanted to be or do?
  • Where can you look for mentors to model this for you?

We are capable of so much more than we realize. Getting from point A to point B in the most effortless way possible is something I focus on. I always thought growing had to be trudgery, but then I found that relaxing, focussing, and starting my journey with joy leads me to far greater heights than forcing my way through.

To adopt a supportive mindset and practice for this, a friend just told me to read “Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz. I have just started the book, but want to make myself accountable so I finish it – I think it has lots of gems to offer. What more perfect way to be accountable than to invite others to join me?

So, please join me January 1st, 2023 for a virtual book club! Let’s read the first 4 chapters in January, the next 4 in February, and so on, so we can finish the book by the end of the first quarter.

I liked this summary of what you will learn from this book. Here are a few actionable insights:

  • Develop a healthy self-image based on facts
  • Work with a success mechanism, believing and thinking about great possibilities you can achieve
  • Use the power of your imagination to learn complete relaxation, successful imagery, and mental practice of future physical actions
  • Develop skills to turn crisis into opportunity
  • Embrace opportunities to live a long, happy, healthy life

An opportunity to save Minor League Baseball in Asheville

Due to new requirements set by Major League Baseball, McCormick Field must undergo renovations to comply, or the 2023 Season will be the last season of Minor League Baseball in Asheville. To achieve this, the City of Asheville must finalize a funding plan to renovate City-Owned McCormick Field by April 1, 2023.

You can show your support by emailing your city council members and county commissioners to ask them to finalize the McCormick Field renovation. To email your Elected Official, click here.

Share your story of what the Tourists and McCormick Field mean to you. Maybe it’s the first game with your three year old, the game where your 15 year old remembered you were cool again, or the day you met your future spouse at the ballpark. Your story is what makes Minor League Baseball in Asheville worth saving!

Greetings!

With our new move into the Hatch complex on South French Broad Ave happening simultaneously with tax planning, 2022 is certainly going out with a bang! It’s been great to be back “in the office” again, and we have found the Hatch community to be so friendly and welcoming.

We also had the pleasure to sponsor and attend Venture Asheville’s awards event at the Orange Peel last night that honors the area’s 15 fastest growing startups. I admire the great entrepreneurial spirit of Asheville and these 15 award-winning businesses. Congratulations to The Grind: coffee shop, BIPOC incubator + coworking space for earning the top slot in the Venture 15 Award, and Charlie Ball (Ball Properties, Hatch Innovation Hub, Troy & Sons) for receiving the Venture Asheville Vanguard Award – well deserved!

I hope you enjoy these last remaining days of 2022. We wish you the best for the holidays, and Happy New Year!

Warm regards,

Michael
