“We have a world to remake~ KRISTA TIPPETT

Dear Readers, Community, Friends,

If you could leave a gift to be received beyond your years on this earth, what would it be?

Katie Paterson, a Norwegian artist, has embraced this concept in her project entitled, “Future Library” whose development will continue far beyond Katie’s lifetime. A forest was planted in 2014. In 2114, the trees will be used to print the first copies of books by participating authors, who will have, by then, donated 100 works (one each year). Margaret Atwood, was honored to be the first contributing author.

I am so incredibly grateful for Steven Kotler and his book, The Art of Impossible. As a naturally curious, passionate and creative soul, I can’t tell you how many times in my life I have experienced overwhelm and exhaustion because I was working harder, not smarter towards my life’s mission.

Even if you use the graph below as a guide, do some exercises, or are inspired to read or listen along, I hope Steven’s clear way of communicating optimal experience will also help you towards the lasting gifts you want to leave our world. You are the best gift the world can receive.

MOVING FORWARD:

For November, let's read: Part 2: “Learning,” then Part 3: “Creativity” for December, and finish with Part 4 “Flow” for January.

Happy Reading!

And, here is a little local shout out to Pigeon River Mercantile in Canton!

I had a great experience there finding locally made items for a raffle drawing. Do you know what the carved squirrel is used for – pulling out a hot oven rack!

You may be happy to hear that the old paper mill’s steam whistle is now housed in the high school, and blows every time the home team scores a point in their games. For over 100 years, the whistle blew to keep time for the employees, and along with the school, the local radio station broadcasts the whistle at noon – what a sweet way to preserve an historic sound.

Is this a photo of the team diligently attending to your accounting and payroll needs?

Apparently, whether it’s taxes or baby shower games, this team of professionals always brings their A game!

540px-danielle-wreathA BABY SHOWER FOR DANIELLE!

We are all tickled pink that, come the first of the year, Danielle will be welcoming a sweet baby girl.

We were so happy to celebrate, with an AMAZING diaper cake made by Nicky Murphy, food and chocolate galore, and lots of laughs and smiling faces.

Congratulations, Danielle. We can’t wait to meet little Vada!

OPTIMIZE & STREAMLINE BY WORKING SMARTER, NOT HARDER

Many of us have fallen into the trap of believing working more is the only key that opens that mighty door to success. However, this type of thinking is often ineffective, leading to burnout, lack of innovation, and little to no returns.

Greetings!

The office has been full, with tax planning and celebrations. Baby showers aren’t my thing, but I was happy to attend Danielle’s party. It was a great day being with the team and celebrating Danielle. She gives so much to Platinum Group as well as our clients, and will make such an excellent mother.

And as always, the LEAF Festival was memorable and fun. The atmosphere Sunday could not be beat, with the blue skies, fall foliage, and perfect temperature. You can see photos from the weekend here, and follow LEAF on Facebook.

The Hatch-O-Ween party was also a big hit. Thanks to Erika and Sean for always bringing the Hatch residents and community together in fun ways.

I hope you enjoy these last warm days before the light drops in the sky and the temperature lowers.

Warm regards,

Michael
