“When you see someone putting on their Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen.” ~ WINNIE-THE-POOH (A. A. Milne)
Dear Readers, Community, Friends,
What bold action can you take today?
It’s a new year, and for some, a very good time to brush off the old and invite in the new. I like to have words to sit and work with for the year. This year: “power” “vitality” and “fun” are my words. I want to share my fullest self with the world, so when I make an intention of stepping into my personal power, instantly, I can see the things that keep me from it. I have inner saboteurs that try to keep me stuck in old ways. I am looking at those with compassion, and inviting new, helpful ways of being. I also see how I can look out at the world and let it take my power away. This year, I will decide whom I want to be (kind, loving, brave), and be it: regardless of what is happening around me.
When I think of the word “vitality,” it means connecting with that beautiful place where I feel connected to the world: it supports me, I support it. I am finally doing yoga again. It’s been 20+ years. Michael is a yoga instructor, so I’m not sure why I’ve waited so long to be inspired to take this up again. But I LOVE it. It is a little seedling that I am determined to nurture.
I’ve brought out a fun reminder. These are my big girl boots. They inspire me to be brave, take action, and have a little fun while I’m at it.
I’d love to hear what’s on your mind and in your heart for this new year. Go for it: whatever that means to you. The world will thank you.

HR TRENDS LEADING THE WAY INTO 2025
The working world has been in flux for the last several years. The introduction of remote work, the rapid development of AI tools, changes in the workforce itself have posed a unique landscape for HR teams in companies across every industry. Long-standing HR policies are quickly being outdated and experimental policies have become a widespread necessity.
EXPANDING YOUR HIRING POOL: HOW CHARACTER PROFILES CAN HELP
Recruiting top talent has become increasingly difficult due to economic shifts, changing workforce expectations, and evolving industry demands. Employers across industries report longer hiring timelines, fewer qualified applicants, and rising competition for skilled professionals. As a result, businesses must rethink traditional hiring strategies and adopt more flexible, inclusive approaches to attract and retain top candidates.
I want to take a moment to share deep gratitude for all of the helpers that have shared their energy, expertise, and resources with our community post-hurricane Helene.
I would like to thank AIR (Asheville Independent Restaurants). I am honored to be on their board and have seen the depth of support they have offered Asheville, like emergency relief grants, advocating for state-level financial support, collaborating with folks like Explore Asheville to house emergency workers. It was a coming together for our community I will not soon forget.
And, thank you to Asheville Area Chamber. They have worked tirelessly to provide temporary office space for displaced businesses, a Business Recovery Center to assist with SBA loans, creating the Mountain Strong Fund for recovering businesses, and so much more.
And, I would like to thank the Hatch community where Platinum Group calls home. They have provided space for our community to gather to connect and strategize economic healing for our region.
There is much to do in 2025, and for many years to come. May we all look out for our neighbor and heal together as a community.
