Obama is doing it - so should you.

In our home, we have quite a range of kids - 21, 18 and 3.  The older girls love to teach their little sister the cool and hip ways to be. I imagine they don’t trust us as parents to be hip, so by the age of two, fist bumping or “daps” were a thing in our home.

Last week, my husband made a visit to the chiropractor.  He was greeted with a fist bump and the doctor explained that this was a much more germ free greeting. Everyone in his office is practicing daps to keep it clean. Seemed a simple enough concept to grasp - and suprisingly, there are several studies out there to back it up.

In a recent study from the USA times, a handshake was proven to transmit nearly 10 times more bacteria than a simple bumping of the fists.  The high-five on the other hand (no pun intended) transmitted only half the amount of bacteria of the handshake.

Though fist bumps may work for Obama, they might not work for you!  If you prefer the old fashioned method of a solid handshake, remember to wash your hands thoroughly throughout the day.
